Going Gradeless and moving to non numerical feedback was one of the first changes I made in the classroom and has resulted in the biggest shifts in student learning and behaviour. Wrong answers are no longer penalized but used as learning opportunities. Mindsets shifted from regurgitating knowledge to demonstrating growth over the term. Students felt safe to try their hypothesis and felt free to learn and build on their lived experiences. I'll admit its a big mind shift at first but once it gets going, you will find yourself and your students smiling more, stressing less and having more time to dream big!
